   The story takes place in the United Kingdom. It is in the United States.
   Rachel takes the train into London. She goes to Manhattan.
   Rachel discovers Tom's emotional abuse when she is sober and visit's Megan's psychiatrist. She is told about Tom's behavior by his former Boss's wife, Martha.
   Rachel doesn't give a speech. But the reader is given the feeling that she might have done it because of the way she acts. Rachel gives a speech to another drunk about how she feels about Megan's affair and it is inter cut with scenes of a blond woman being pulled by the hair. It insinuates that Rachel is a suspect in Megan's disappearance.
   Rachel never records anything on her phone. She records the speech that might implicate her in Megan's disappearance on her phone.
