This does not happen in the book. DA Andy Freeman visits Mickey after the trial and gives him a coffee mug gift. She has no bad feelings about his behavior at the trial. She tells him that the police found blood on Walter Kim's shoes. She says Walter Kim is presumed dead and the feds are all over Alex Grant for fraud.
Mickey sees Lisa at a party with kids and notices that the kids are staring up at balloons. He realizes that Lisa was able to get Bondurant to look up at the ceiling, distracting him, so she could kill him with a hammer blow to the top of the head even though she was much shorter than the victim. While at the beach, Mickey realizes that Lisa Trammel's ex-husband (Jeff) was actually in town when he told him that he was in Mexico. Mickey finds out the man who Mickey met was not her husband, but an out of work actor. Mickey said it doesn't make sense that Jeff does not get the divorce in a community property state and get half of her place. Mickey thinks Lisa killed her husband and buried him in her garden. The show ends with Mickey believing that Lisa did not kill Bondurant
Lisa Trammel later calls Mickey begging her to represent her as the police are digging up her garden. He refuses. Mickey tells her he is going to run for District Attorney. Lisa tells Mickey she should have arranged for him to be more badly beaten. Lorna calls the police with information that Trammel may have a body buried in her garden. Lorna also suspects Lisa had arranged for Mickey to be beaten up. Nothing about Mickey running for DA.
This does not happen in the book. Mickey is nearly run over by a car that he thinks might belong to Alex Grant.
This does not happen in the book, The Fifth Witness. Mickey meets a new potential client in jail, Julian Lacrosse. Julian tells Mickey that he was arrested for the murder of Giselle Dallinger. Mickey goes to the morgue and sees that it is Gloria Dayton (Glory Days).
